I am writing this, tired and sick of the heat, but still wanting to get a post uploaded. I’m trying to make Thursdays ‘blog’ days… but we’ll see if that happens, assuming I have content to post haha.

Last week, I got the pleasure of hanging out with one of my best friends and his girlfriend (he is in the second to last photo with me). We adventured to Julian, California in hopes of going to their beloved apple orchards for a fun fall shoot (what an alliteration we’ve got there). The internet said that they were still open but the sign, when we got there, said otherwise. ‘Closed for the season’ was what it read. Safe to say, I was SOOO sad!! I have been wanting to go apple picking since last fall and was SO excited because I thought I had it all totally planned out but I guess not.

That’s okay! We just went into the little town of Julian instead! You can never go wrong hanging out in that cute little fall town. Despite it being a million degrees (not really, more like a thousand), the changing leaves and slight breeze made it actually feel like Autumn for the first time this season!!

If you know me personally, then you know that I work at J. Crew and follow very closely with the fashion trends. When we got this sweater in, the end of August/early September, I knew I HAD to have it. I called it the “pumpkin spice” sweater. All my coworkers laughed at me because, well, summer wasn’t even technically over! This sweater 100% represents the color of fall to me. Warm tones, longer sleeves and a soft texture… WHAT MORE DOES ONE NEED FOR FALL?!? Now, I haven’t actually worn it to work yet because it has been so hot still, but I can feel the crispness of November… it’s coming.

I paired this sweater with a dark rinse denim. I could have paired it with black denim and been the epitome of Halloween, but Halloween can’t last all winter (unfortunately). Hence why I paired it with a dark rinse (also from J. Crew). I absolutely LOVE this wash… but not without sleeping on it a little bit. I wasn’t always a fan, but then this distressed-hem pair got returned (in my size) so I had to at least try them on. I did and I fell in love. So I bought them. Instantly, I imagined this outfit, totally just piecing it together! That is something I do when I get stressed out (not to say I was stressed at that moment, just a fact about me), I put outfits together and plan where and when I will wear them. It just brings me massive amounts of joy.

The hat is also from J. Crew and was on sale because it was “out of season.” I am a massive hat person, specifically these kinds of hats but I am branching out! I’ve also been getting into neck scarves (thanks to my good friend Karlee), but that’s a blog for another day!

Story time…

I was on Instagram just scrolling through my feed like a year and a half ago when I stumbled upon a post from this blogger I follow. She was holding her baby, wearing jeans, a fun sweatshirt-type thing and, wait for it… THIGH-HIGH BOOTS. After seeing that, I was sold. I HAD to have a pair. No going back now.

End of story.

So for months, I was on the search for some good thigh-highs. Pinterest is quite the gem if you are looking for something specific and where to buy it. I found this out a little later than I should have, seeing as that I am on Pinterest daily, but oh well. I found these gorgeous suede thigh-highs and it redirected me to the website ALDO. If you are looking for shoes of all kinds, this is the place to go! They’ve got shoes GALORE! I found my thigh-highs there AND they were on sale!!!! I am all about a good sale (but I’ll definitely buy something at full-price if I absolutely have to). ADD TO CART, duh. They came in the mail a week or so later and it was love at first wear. I didn’t even have to break them in!!

‘Tis now the season to wear these fun pieces (almost).

The last couple pictures are what I actually wore when we weren’t shooting. It was so hot and I didn’t want to sweat in my actual outfit haha. But the colors worked with the little school we all stumbled across when we were leaving town! We also got to act like children again and we played on the school’s makeshift playground. I say makeshift because I don’t actually know if it was a playground but we had fun playing on it.

We’ve come to the end of my fashion blog post… I don’t know if it was as entertaining to read as it was to write but I hope you liked it nonetheless! Until next time (hopefully next Thursday).

Sincerely,

Kate
