Button-fly jeans, everyone!!! They are my newest obsession and I want to own every single pair in existence (woah, maybe that is a little extreme)…
But on a serious note, these four different jeans have changed the game for me when it comes to denim. Not only are these jeans so fashion-forward, but they also CRUSH IT in the comfort department!!!
The first pair of jeans I am wearing are the Demi-boot crop jean in redwood wash from J. Crew. Now, J. Crew had the Billie’s last Spring/Summer but I just wasn’t a huge fan of the way they fit. This year is TOTALLY different. I am not only obsessed with the button-fly, but the distressed hem as well. These are my absolute go-to jeans if I want to be flirty and fabulous (because what 21-year-old doesn’t wanna be that way). Putting this outfit together literally made me smile from ear-to-ear. I am (96.3%) going to Europe this summer and was imagining walking through the streets of Paris in this outfit, obviously carrying a baguette (oh so French).
Fun fact about this pink wall: It is the side of the Paul Smith shop on Melrose Ave in Los Angeles, CA. I’ve been to it before and typically there is a security guard posted up, making sure no one is taking photos against this wall with a professional camera. You are only allowed to use a phone to take photos. We were there early enough that there were no security guards (nor crowds of people) to tell us NOT to use my profesh cam. SO WE DID. OOOOOOHHHHHH, #rebelwithoutacause.
I am in NO way even close to being a rebel, so any chance I get lol.
After our first little shoot, my best friend from middle school (Hannah, she’s been through it with me) and I went to Carrerra Cafe right across the street (because you know, being a “model” is a lot of work). I kid you not, they have THE BEST waffle breakfast dessert thing. I don’t even know what it was, all I know is that it was DE-LI-CIOUS. Also, if you ask them to, they will write something cute in your caffeinated beverage (coffee). Whatever you’ve gotta do for the aesthetics, am I right?
So ANYWAYS… we finished up our yummy snacks and got on the road again. The next stop was, wait for it… ANOTHER FOOD PLACE (some people might call them restaurants). Before eating though, had to rebuild up my appetite by posing in front of a wall for a couple minutes. The second button-fly jean I am obsessed with is the 9″ high-rise toothpick jean in Daly wash from J. Crew.
I know it seems like all of my clothes are from J. Crew… it’s because they are.
BACK TO FASHION.
These toothpick jeans were the button-fly that started it all. The toothpick jean from J. Crew is my all-time favorite style, so I was already automatically in love with these when I saw them. They are a skinny jean that you could either dress up or down. I decided to go with a dressier look for these because they are a skinny jean and make me feel very sleek. The heels I needed to break out because rarely do I have an occasion to wear heels, so I just decided to make this that said occasion. I paired it all with the tissue turtleneck, which I was also not a huge fan of when I first tried it on. But what harm would a second chance do, I thought. I gave them another try and fell in LOVE. I’m more of a love at second glance kind of gal.
Appetite was there so we went to the incredible, Greenleaf Gourmet Chopshop.
HOLY GUACAMOLE. I kid you not, the best meal I have ever had. I got the Hollywood Bowl…
If you are ever in the Venice Beach area, GO EAT THERE. So fresh, so healthy, so YUMMY.
Once we fueled up, it was on to the infamous ‘Venice’ sign.
Abbot Kinney is a cute area. Venice Beach Boardwalk is not. I have lived in Southern California my entire life and had never been to Venice Beach, but I can tell you… I wasn’t missing out on anything. It was not my kind of scene. I love the community of people it has created, but it was just a lot to deal with. I wore my Vintage straight jean to the ‘Venice’ sign with my cute lil cherry print striped tippi (both from J. Crew). My hat was probably my favorite part of that outfit. I got it from the Village Hat Shop website and I had an excellent experience with them. If you are looking for inexpensive yet CUTE hats, check them out.
Our last stop was to literally get some caffeine for the drive home. It was Superbowl Sunday and we were in LA. Trying to get home in rush hour traffic is no joke. It is just as awful, if not worse, than they say it is. Now, I’ve known this but I like to ignore stupid facts such as that and pretend it won’t happen to me (raise your hand if you do this too).
So I changed in the car because I had these super cute black distressed-hem button-fly jeans from Madewell that I wanted to document also. These jeans are probably the comfiest of them all. They are so stretchy yet formfitting. Alfred Tea Room had the best colors to contrast the black with. Also, I ordered their rose milk tea… SO good!!!!! I love anything rose-related (my entire tattoo sleeve is rose themed) so this tea was like my dream come true. I made some friends in the shop (as I do everywhere), we snapped a few shots and then were on the road.
I was soooo tired when we got home but I didn’t want to take a nap because I knew I wouldn’t sleep later. Sure enough, I passed the heck out THE SECOND my head hit the pillow. It was a much-needed nap because ya know, modeling is EXHAUSTING lol (I am totally not a model, these are jokes).
Now, onto why I have been so MIA.
I GOT A PROMOTION AT WORK AND IT HAS BEEN SO AMAZING!!!!
I am so blessed, you guys. I couldn’t be happier with the direction my life is going right now. I am traveling a lot this year, I am working a bunch, I am making new friends and strengthening the friendships I already have… it’s truly incredible.
I hope everyone’s 2018 (still can’t believe it’s 2018) is off to a spectacular start!!!
I wish you all the best in your week!
Sincerely,
Kate
