Just so everyone is aware (if you weren’t already), I SUCK at blogging… I am not consistent but believe me… I WANT TO BE!!! On to the post…

I had SO much fun putting these looks together that I literally started to DAYDREAM about VELVET!!! That may or may not just be my shopping addiction… who knows?!

This post was inspired back in the fall when I purchased my green velvet pumps from J. Crew. The second I saw them I knew that I HAD to have them! I paired them with a men’s secret wash button down and a skinny jean just to even out the oversized-ness of the shirt. I wore them over the holidays and they were SUCH a hit, not only at work but out and about! As much as I love them, they (like any heel I own) are not shoes that I can wear over an extended amount of time. Flashback to Christmas, when I wore them with my tulle heart skirt and my velvet hair tie! I couldn’t pass up another opportunity to wear them, plus it was SO festive!! Perfect for the occasion.

The Parisian outfit was inspired by my friend, Viktoria. Her and I are fashion NUTS and we talk about clothes like boy-crazy teenagers talking about their crush. So we always run outfit ideas by one another and get each others opinions. J. Crew sells berets and I’m going to Paris this summer so I needed to get one to really get the excitement going (like I couldn’t do that without a beret). Viktoria told me about the turtleneck underneath this INCREDIBLE velvet ruffle hem dress and I knew I needed to give it a whirl.

When I first saw the dress, I wasn’t a fan of it (which happens a lot, I’m learning not to judge clothes on the hanger). Then I was asked to try it on and I did and there you have it. End of story. I. LOVED. IT.

It was funny, when I was shooting for this post, my friend and photographer Ryan made a comment about how very all over the place I was being an American in a French looking outfit parading around in a Japanese Friendship Garden. I don’t know, it was just something funny he pointed out. Also, while we were walking to this location to shoot, a man ran up to me and asked if I spoke French. I, like a smart ass, said “Oui!” He then proceeded to speak very quickly and very fluently in French. I felt so stupid. It was kind of funny though and we both laughed it off.

Okay… Let me just say, I don’t ever want to go back to laces on shoes. I saw these velcro Vans online somewhere and I couldn’t not own them. Plus, THEY ARE ROSE GOLD!!! MY FAVORITE COLOR!!! When I got them in the mail, I was so gosh darn excited! Then, I just so happened to wander into Madewell and I saw that this very cute, very velvet ROSE GOLD tee went on sale!!! AHHHHH!!! In that moment, an outfit was born. This look is literally SO comfy. I base an outfit’s “comfiness” on whether or not I would wear it to Disneyland and you bet your bottom dollar that I would wear this to Disney. It’s so movable and you don’t have to worry about your laces coming undone which I HATE!! Having to bend down in a crowded theme park to retie your shoes is one of my least favorite things to do… it just super stresses me out. But anywho, this outfit is a 10/10 on the comfy scale and not to mention, it’s so cute!

Moving on.

My next velvet love is this grey tank. The moment I saw it I knew I needed to own it (reoccurring thing in my life, as you all probably know by now). It is the perfect shape and doesn’t go TOO low creating inappropriate cleavage, but just low enough to be sexy. I love the ruffles, making this tank a bit more feminine than just your average grey spaghetti strap. This is such a good top all-year-round, contrary to popular belief. I know a lot of people say “fashion is seasonal,” which okay sure. But to me, if you can rock it all year, GO FOR IT!!! Like white denim! I WEAR IT ALL YEAR!!! NOT JUST BEFORE LABOR DAY OR WHATEVER THAT SILLY RULE IS. It also probably helps that I live in San Diego where the weather is pretty much always perfect so I can wear whatever I want WHENEVER I want.

*picture me shrugging innocently*

I just absolutely loved styling this tank with my blackish-grey toothpick jeans (which are probably one of my favorite pairs of jeans I own… and I own A LOT of jeans). The star pattern in the knee perfectly matched my tank and I have had those Steve Madden heels for forever (that also just so happen to be velvet) so I put it together in an instant. This outfit was perfect over the holidays because I could be cute and comfy, with a little bit of sass. I love adding sass to any outfit.

My last outfit that I am completely obsessed with is my navy and white velvet dress that I paired with my yellow slides from American Eagle Outfitters and my J. Crew necklace. Navy, yellow and white are one of my favorite color combos to ever be made… which you will be seeing in a later blog post, as well as, an entire trip with that color theme!! Back to the dress… One of my favorite things in the entire world is leaving my house without pants on, and in dress I get to do that. So to whoever invented them, THANK YOU!!! This dress is literally so stinkin’ soft and stretchy and COMFY (10/10 would wear to Disney lol)!!! I think, since I bought it, it has gone on sale at Madewell for a super great price, but to be honest I don’t know, so don’t quote me lol.

Anyways, I think that is really all I have to say about velvet. This post is SO late to hit my blog and for that I am incredibly sorry… not that very many of you probably pay attention but oh well, whatever. For those of you that do follow along on my fashion and travel adventures, I am going to try to be better and get more content on here for you! I am sorry for the delay and for being a bad blogger but if you’ve been following on my Instagram (@sincerelykateofficial), you’ll know that I haven’t disappeared from the planet due to an alien abduction or whatever.

I hope you all had a lovely week and have an even better weekend!!

And a BIG Happy Mother’s Day to all you moms out there!!

Sincerely,

Kate
