In this day and age, we are all looking for some place where we can escape reality. The “Happy Place” pop-up in Los Angeles, CA does exactly that!! When I found out that this was a museum within driving distance from me, I bought tickets INSTANTLY!!
With all of the horrible things happening in the world lately, I find it inspiring that there are people out there who want to encourage us to continue to find happiness. Happiness is something I am ALL about. Being someone who has struggled with depression and anxiety my entire life, I fully stand behind things that help give people a more positive outlook. This installation at L.A. Live did just that.
Right when I walked in, there was this big sign on the ceiling that said “Don’t Worry Be Happy,” which is one of the most calming songs I know.
Once passing through the gold streamers hanging from the ceiling, it was a blur of cubicles and rooms with different themes. One room was all yellow with rubber duckies and a bathtub (this was my favorite little place, probably because the color yellow just makes me smile). There were sparkles and optical illusions which created such a magical experience.
I personally believe that pop-up museums like this should be everywhere. It provides such a nice escape from reality for a little while. Now, obviously the real world is still just through the doors, but the fact that there are people out there going to great lengths to put a smile on people’s faces gives me hope that this world will know peace and true happiness.
The fact that this is a pop-up museum means that it doesn’t stay in one place. I believe the Happy Place is now located in Chicago, so if you are in that area I HIGHLY recommend that you get tickets and go enjoy yourself for a little while! Escape reality and have some “fun fun fun.”
Sincerely,
Kate
