P A L M  S P R I N G S.

The home of Coachella (where everyone was this past weekend and probably will be again this upcoming weekend), land of the heat and palm trees. This place has been my stomping grounds since I was in LITERAL diapers. I can’t imagine having gone anywhere else for my spring break growing up.

As I’ve gotten older, I (like everyone does) have gained a whole new appreciation for places that used to not mean too much. By this I mean I enjoy my little vacations to places that I know well. I used to only want to go to new places. I would roll my eyes and groan at the fact that we were going BACK to Palm Springs for our spring break.

NOW though… I jump at the chance to go to one of my favorite places lined with palm trees. It is more of an escape from reality when I go now. I even do random little day trips to this cute little place, I love it so!

My grandma has a timeshare out there so I am lucky enough to join her when she goes every year.

This year, I had requested off of work WELL in advance because I literally HAD to make it to the desert or else… I had been having a rough time, so getting away from it all and just relaxing sounded like the perfect remedy.

It was.

The only bummer was that it was quite gloomy outside for most of my trip. I wanted to tan and relax by the pool, which I did, I just wish it had been a little warmer lol. Us Californians really can’t handle cold, nor do we even attempt to handle it. And I’m talking about like, 60 degree weather!! Such a baby!!! That’s okay, I’m not claiming to be some tough girl when it comes to cold weather.

One of my favorite stories my mom and grandma always tell me (and I mean every single time we go to PS) is when we went shopping in Palm Desert to look for dresses for some sort of church event and I was throwing THE BIGGEST tantrum ever (or so they say, who even knows… they could have been overreacting). Like parents when their child is screaming in public, they took me home and I had to go to bed without dinner. My bed was the entire couch sleep away bed right in the living room… same room as the kitchen. So imagine this tiny little curly-headed toe head, probably laying naked in bed, smelling the amazing scents of the soup my mom and grandma were making. They were telling me how they had been talking and all of a sudden, they hear from the kitchen, “I looooove soup.”

Yes, they fed me soup 😉

Anyways, that is one of my favorite Palm Springs stories.

Another Palm Springs tradition with my grandma is going to Tommy Bahamas. We spend the day on El Paseo shopping, of course, and then once we get hungry we head to Tommy  Bahamas. They’ve got some of the best food ever, like uhhh YUM!! Only bummer is that it’s like 30-45 minutes away from our timeshare so it’s definitely a special treat.

Were we TRULY in for a treat when we went this time. THEY MADE ONE RIGHT DOWN THE STREET FROM OUR TIMESHARE!!!! I kind of screamed a little bit, I was so excited. And if you look at the food that I shared, you should be too and you should go there and talk to Raul. The cutest little manager at that location and honestly the most genuine human being ever… the kind of person that customer service NEEDS MORE OF.

While here, I made a photographer friend (since my fam DITCHED ME and went to the tennis tournament) and I made him take some photos of me… Okay, I didn’t MAKE him, I more so asked if he could and luckily he did. I needed to capture my trip! So what, who cares (imagine that in a New York accent).

The relaxation and food was what really brought me back to life. It’s so SO important to do things for yourself and get away from stressors to rejuvenate yourself. Sometimes we don’t know how important it is until we are in it or at a complete mental breakdown stage. Let’s try not to get to the mental breakdown stage. I’m working on that part myself.

Stay beautiful and take life one day at a time. If you need a vacation, go to Palm Springs 😉

Sincerely,

Kate
