My favorite color is rose gold.

BUT…

I LOVE yellow. It wasn’t until recently though that I found a greater appreciation for this incredible color.

To me, this color just SCREAMS happy.

I can only imagine that the reason I never really liked this color was because it had what I didn’t. Happiness. I’m not saying that I’ve NEVER been happy, but for a very long time I was so so sad. There are days where sadness hits me like a brick wall, but I am on the up and up. Being able to internally AND externally have everything sync up is the coolest feeling ever. Months ago, my therapist told me that we need to get everything aligned within me, my mind and how I present myself. She’s a wise woman, my therapist.

*Side bar: If you don’t have a therapist, I suggest getting one… Even if your life is fine and dandy, it’s so nice just having someone that you can talk to.*

ANYWAYS!

Yellow has been my color. For life, for the summer, for E V E R Y T H I N G.

Another reason I didn’t like yellow very much was because I thought I couldn’t wear it. I always thought the color looked stupid on me. FALSE.

I am a firm believer that if you have the confidence to pull something (like an outfit) off, GO THE F*** FOR IT!!! So many people have fashion stigmas like, but not limited to:

“I’m too old to wear that.”

“I’m too young to wear that.”

“That won’t look good with my skin tone.”

“That’s not my style.”

“My husband/wife won’t like this.” (My BIGGEST pet peeve when helping people shop.)

BLAH BLAH BLAH.

Having worked in the fashion industry for quite some time now, I’ve realized that you need to break those silly little “rules” that you have and wear what makes you *happy*.

YELLOW MAKES ME HAPPY, SO I WEAR IT. Can’t you tell by the way I am dancing in my photos!?! Lol!!

Plain and simple.

I’ve had these yellow pieces for quite sometime now and hadn’t worn them… mainly because the weather has been so cloudy and grey. Although I could have brought them out as my own form of makeshift sunshine, it was honestly just too cold to wear skirts and mesh dresses. But now it’s SUMMER!!! Finally! So, when I’m not working, I wear yellow!!!

I believe everyone should have an article of sunshine in their wardrobe. Whether it’s a piece of jewelry, a shoe, a dress, skirt, top… WHATEVER! It just ads a little pep in your step and sun to your day (even when it’s cloudy)!

My request to you is to go out and get one piece of yellow, wear it and let me know that you didn’t smile.

You will.

I hope this post finds you well.

Until next time!

Sincerely,

Kate
