Sad, sad day. I had to get over it, though, and I will NOT be making the mistake of not emailing my photos instantly AGAIN!!

Alrighty, balloon-sleeve sweaters. I first heard about these bad boys when I was working for J. Crew a couple years ago. When I saw them for the first time, I didn’t keep my thoughts to myself. “What the hell is this supposed to look like, you’re flying away?”

Now, I don’t recall who I said that too, but I apologize for my reaction. Here I am now, wearing these balloon-sleeve sweaters PROUDLY! Now, you’ve got to be careful. There are more than one type of these sweaters. I was on the hunt for this specific look in particular, but some are more flowy, some are balloon-y just at the wrists… It’s a crazy scene. Luckily, Lulu’s had the exact sweater I was searching for (this one… the one in the photographs).

First off, the sweater and the corduroy overall jumpsuit? Bad combo for shooting in early-fall in San Diego. I was DYING of heat. It was probably close to a million degrees and the boob sweat was so real. I couldn’t get out of this look fast enough. I wanted to keep it on because it’s cute and I will wear anything to convince Mother Nature that it is fall here in Southern California, but that whole 20 minutes was long enough. The people at the resort my friend Kailen and I were at looked at me like I was crazy (as they walked past in their shorts and tank tops).

With outfit number two, I had seen someone somewhere put a long sleeve shirt under a tank like this and I knew that it would be PERFECT for a second look using this sweater!! When I have a vision about how outfits will work together, I’m usually right. Sometimes I can be completely off the mark, but having done this for so long I know what will or won’t work together. Call it a sixth sense, if you will. This outfit is one where I lost all of the photos. I was totally bummed when I found out that they were all missing off of my phone, but I have been working on not letting the little things get to me so much so I have been able to breathe through that.

I get it… That’s probably a dumb thing to get worked up over, but when you work so hard (and all day long) to get some good stuff and then it’s lost, it is a big upset. Oh well, at least I salvaged 3 shots!

The third outfit is more of a laid back look, but I think (besides the sweater) what really makes this look are the S H O E S!!! Story time: I had been pining over these boots for a solid month and a half but could not bring myself to buy them. I was trying to be good. So, for my birthday I finally said, ‘You deserve these,” and went to check out to find THEY WERE SOLD OUT. I was absolutely GUTTED. These shoes had been giving me life ever since the day I laid eyes on them, so for them to be sold out?? Ugh, the worst day ever!! I’m frantic. I am searching far and wide on the internet to see if A N Y W H E R E else would sell them. I came across an eBay listing for them, brand new, from Spain. CLICK. I bought them. They were the right size, almost the same price, exact same shoe. It’s what, December, and I ordered those back in October. Ask me if I ever received the shoes, because the answer is no, I sure as heck did not. I was devastated, but again, trying to regulate my emotions, I breathed and remained calm. Every now and again, I would check the website to see if they came back in stock and finally, one day, THEY DID!!!! Woohoo!! Ordered them again and they came within 2 days. Not only are they cute shoes but, dammit, they are comfortable!!!

This last outfit probably takes the cake as one of my favorite outfits of all time. There are so many life events this cute little sweater/dress combo could be worn to (date night, graduations, holiday parties, your best friend’s wedding, etc.)! I don’t know HOW or WHY I thought these two pieces would look cute together, but again, I was onto something. This cute little green dress is the first thing I’ve EVER purchased from Abercrombie & Fitch (I feel like this is a shocking fact because everyone and their mother’s would shop at Abercrombie when I was in middle school but I was never allowed to). Anyway, this cute little slip dress I paired with my balloon sweater and, as an accessory, I added this J. Crew “baker boy” hat, as they like to call them. I am a BIG hat girl, as I may have mentioned before, and I have really taken to wearing them a lot more lately. I have so many, so why not?? One day, when I re-move out again, I will show you my hat wall… it’s super cute and aesthetic lol.

Thanks for humoring me and reading this post all about how to wear what. I hope you are all enjoying this special season with your special someone’s (family included).

Sincerely,

Kate
