Fresh Flowers, Fresh Starts

It seems almost fitting with it being Spring AND May, which is Mental Health Awareness Month, that I share my most exciting news with everyone!!

If you have been following me on my journey throughout this crazy thing we call life, then you know that I have struggled severely with my mental health. From growing up with depression to being diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder and being placed on medication, it hasn’t been the easiest ride. Hence why I am SUCH a big advocate for mental health… it is so so important that we are all our own advocates as well, especially in our healing journey.

*I’m getting closer to sharing my news.*

I’ve been in the retail biz for what would have been 6 years this coming June. SIX YEARS. I had a love/hate relationship with retail. I absolutely love that it brought me to my love for fashion and style. It also brought me INCREDIBLE friendships that I admire and cherish and will be FOREVER grateful for. The customers that I have met over the years, as well, have touched my life in more ways than they will ever know.

But my heart is in the mental health community… When the pandemic hit last year, I re-enrolled in school, with my major being Psychology.

So, when an opportunity for me to be apart of others’ recovery process popped up, I LEAPED at it!

Through many anxiety-ridden nights of self-doubt and prayer (and through my friend), you are now looking at a Recovery Coach at a behavioral health facility!!!!!!!

I literally could not be any happier to be starting my career in the mental health field, working on breaking the stigma and participating in people’s recovery journey. It’s where my heart is and the fact that I have the opportunity to follow my passion for people and mental health is something I am SO immensely grateful for. I literally have no words.

Spring is a great time for new beginnings and fresh starts and I think I got the best fresh start I could ever imagine. I will always love clothes and fashion and have respect for the retail field, for it brought me so much goodness… but I am doing something now that sets my soul on fire and that I truly believe to be my purpose.

Thank you to everyone who has supported me through this process!! I can’t wait to see what the future has in store!!!

Sincerely,

Kate
